About Calmren

Technology should fit the way you work.

I’m Cal Chamberlain, founder and lead consultant at Calmren. I help people understand their technology choices, connect the systems they use and build what’s missing.

My strength is seeing how the whole process fits together: the people, the information and what needs to happen next. I can work with your leadership team on the direction, then get hands-on with the implementation.

Experience on both sides of the conversation.

I’m a former Microsoft engineer, with experience across software, government projects, systems teams and the not-for-profit sector in New Zealand and Australia. I’ve also run my own business, so I understand the pressure of making a limited budget work.

I work alongside your people, including whoever already looks after IT. Design and technical collaborators join where the work calls for them, while I stay your point of contact.

Calmren is also home to Kyne and Newsren. Building and running these products keeps my advice connected to everyday operational work.

Clear explanations.
Practical choices.

You should understand what you’re buying, how your information is used and what it takes to keep things working. Privacy, transparency and freedom from long-term lock-in guide the work.

Calmren is built for organisations that need specialist help without an in-house AI team, with a particular focus on teams of 5–50. Solo founders and individuals are welcome too. We shape the scope and package around your needs, resources and priorities.

Based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Working remotely with businesses, organisations and individuals across New Zealand and Australia.
